Better Answers Than We Pray

Many times God has answered my prayers better than I prayed them. Perhaps all the time. I am thankful for that. He always knows the best answer and the best time for it. Consider this prayer that I recently heard read by Dr. J. Vernon McGee on Thru The Bible Radio:

I asked for strength that I might achieve. He made me weak that I might obey.
I asked for help that I might do greater things. He gave me grace that I might do better things.
I asked for riches that I might be happy. I was given poverty that I might be wise.
I asked for power that I might have praise of men. I was given weakness that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things that I might enjoy life. I was given life that I might enjoy all things.
I received nothing that I asked for or that I hoped for. My prayer was answered.

Ephesians 3:20: Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Isaiah 55:8-9: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Matthew 6:8: Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
